In July 2011, Q Associates Ltd was commissioned, in association with Triad Associates, by the Federal Airports Authority of expansion of terminals at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos and Kaduna International Airport, Kaduna, was awarded to two construction companies in December 2011 at the combined sum of N4,265 million, and construction work, though behind schedule, is progressing well. Contracts for Phase 2 of the program, comprising the construction of prototype Hajj Terminals at six major airports, were awarded in November 2012 at the total sum of N4,032 million, and commencement of construction work is imminent.
Q Associates Ltd is also providing quantity surveying consulting services (as sub-consultants to Capita Norman + Dawbarn) on the African Development Bank financed Civil Works for the Skills Technical & Vocational Education Project. The project, which comprises the construction of prototype buildings (classrooms, hostels, libraries, business development centres/workshops), etc. using cement-stabilized compressed earth brick technology at nine vocational and nomadic education colleges nationwide was awarded to four contractors in November 2010 at the total cost of N2,528 million. Construction work, which commenced in January 2011 is well advanced, and project completion is expected shortly.
The firm was also appointed by Triad Associates to provide quantity surveying services on the proposed new Head Office Complex for the National Assembly Service Commission at Abuja, a four storey modern glass and concrete office development with an estimated total cost of N3,146 million. The preliminary design and estimates stage of this project was completed in February 2011, and with tender documents/production information completed, initiation of tender action by the client is expected shortly.
In December 2010 Q Associates Ltd was commissioned by Galaxy Backbone Plc to providing quantity surveying and cost engineering services for the proposed National Information Technology Centre, Abuja, an ultramodern building, to be developed using the latest sustainable construction technologies, which will serve as both head office and national data centre for the client. Work on the designs, bills of quantities and other production documentation for this landmark project was completed in July 2011, and the construction contract was awarded in March 2012 to Sageto Limited at the sum of N7,274 million.
